Anbernic seem to be on a bit of a roll. After the WIN600, the recently-announced RG505, there's another upcoming retro gaming console from their stable. This time, it's a vertical, and a bit of a Miyoo Mini ripoff!
To say that the Miyoo Mini is a popular retro handheld would be an understatement. At the time of writing this piece, the Miyoo Mini has been out of stock for a few weeks.
Retailers that do have stock, are selling them at over $100 a piece; a far cry from the $60-odd price tag it usually goes with. In short, scalpers are having a time of their lives.

Anbernic seem to have put the market analysis hat on for a bit, and probably concluded it’s a good time to release a Miyoo Mini clone.
Well, that’s what it looks like to me at least.
Let’s have a look at what this upcoming device looks like. Note, there’s not a lot that we know so far, but let’s have a go anyway.
Time will tell whether or not this makes it to the list of the best Miyoo Mini alternatives.
Anbernic vs Miyoo Mini
Here’s how both devices look next to each other. Right off the bat, you’ll notice how much bigger the Anbernic is compared to the Miyoo Mini.

…and also a bit thicker.

While the difference in scale is very clear, the inspiration Anbernic have borrowed is apparent.
Launch date & Pictures
We’ve gotten our hands on some fresh pictures, have a look here.

This leaked retro console from Anbernic has no name yet, but it seems to be in decent shape already. Anbernic could be eyeing a Q4 2022 (aka holiday season) launch for this, but there’s a good chance it will ship a bit before that.

Specifications
There is no word yet on the specifications yet. However, given its similarities with the Miyoo Mini specifications, we can estimate a couple of things.
One, it’ll either have a screen of about 3 inches, or the same 3.5-inch screen as the RG353V series. And two, a battery capacity about 2000mAh.
Knowing how Chinese manufacturing works (read: economies of scale), Anbernic would want to re-use any existing dies and casts.
And thus, it would not be wise to expect too much to change (from the Mini).
